2014 | Yard

On top of themes that I previously explored, like family and ritual, this series deals with home. Most of the paintings are of a residential backyard. The backyard is where my father, often around a fire, would recall stories from his childhood. I decided to use the yard as a vessel to tell my own surreal stories about the complex nature of home. Blurred figures and objects give all paintings in the series a poignant sense of unease.

In cases where a work did not perfectly fit the themes of a series, I placed that work according to date. I placed these less related works at the bottom of the page.
